Art, Sculptures, & One-of-a-Kind

Have a valuable piece of fine art you want to ship? Need a Picasso in New York by next week? I know we can help you with all of your fine art and sculpture packing & shipping needs. Call us at 951.970.6908 and in the Palms Springs, CA area at 760.473.6980 or drop us an e-mail at SALES@sheatheinc.com or REQUEST an estimate on www.SheatheInc.com

Very Fine Art

A very good day to all of you! What we have here is our latest piece of art(which I love to do). This painting will only be boxed due in part that we will be delivering the item personally and the added shipping protection will not be needed so we therefore can just simply pack it with two layers of cardboard and bubble wrap on the corners, with pads of wrap in the center runners of the frame to protect against the edges of the walls from collapsing on to the frame. The reason why I do enjoy packing or crating fine art is that in my lifetime I may never get the opportunity to see but a fraction of the art in this world but here I see art pieces on a weekly basis and I must admit that to view these pieces as close as I do I can see things that may not be noticed in an art gallery or museum. Appreciation of art in the first place makes this job all the more enjoyable since every piece that comes through here are one of a kind or series that run like, #3 of 50. So awesome! The most rewarding job ever!!!
If you are interested in seeing our recent jobs or would like an estimate call us at 951.970.6908 or in the Palm Springs area call 760.473.6980. You may leave an e-mail at sales@sheatheinc.com

Antique Chairs

And here we have a six-pack of wood - white wash chairs. Very rustic look to them and fitted with newer cushions. These are not of the value of the last chair and ottoman set we did so the packing and shipping procedures are abit different. These are to be boxed in double corrugated cardboard that offers a double wall of protection to the items. This is only after we cover the cushions with plastic bags and furniture wrap the items and finish it all off with shrink wrap to keep everything held together. These items are actually apart of a bigger job and will be fitted to a pallet much later after we receive the remaining pieces to this shipment. Once we get everything boxed and set together then we can see how it will fit on a pallet or if we need to build a pallet to the items.

    High Value Pieces

Well here is the chair and ottoman set that I described in my last blog. This is wood and a very fine leather. Note the pad that is attached to every leg prior to further steps, it is very important that the legs do not become chipped by handling by our staff. The next step is to wrap the piece in a moisture seal foam(not shown) that will protect against dampness while allowing the piece to breathe during its journey. Following that is to shrink wrap everything to the piece to keep our outer layer of protection in place(were not done). Following this is the fitting of the ottoman into the scheme of things, for maximum use of space without over using materials and resources. Once we have found where we are to place the ottoman we begin the protection of this piece with furniture wrap and shrink wrap. Once we have an estimate of the measurement we prepare a skid for the pieces and lay the foundation of our crate. Now that is done we secure the pieces in as to lock it in so it will not be able to shift around while not damaging the upholstery that is on the pieces. From there the crate walls are built and fitted and more blocking & bracing in added to further ensure a secure item within. With that we cap it and seal the crate and stage it for shipping. Interested? Give us a call 951,970.6908

You can follow along with this crating hopefully by the end of the day I will have pictures posted and you can get a feel of how we care for the customers items and the quality of packing we do to ensure every shipment arrives in the same condition as we receive it.

Just call us at 951.970.6908 or in the Palm Springs area call 760.473.6980 for information on how we can improve the efficiency of your company. Or drop us an e-mail at sales@sheatheinc.com .

    Misc Machine Shop Items Packed-Palletized

Well, As promised these are some of the items that went out this past week in the shipment that only took one week(7 days) to pack and stage for shipping. These are but fraction of the pictures I want to show you but due to some technical problems we are unable to do that right now. They will be posted at a later time. But as you can see space is condensed to ensure that all items will have room to accommodate smaller crates or packages that will be placed before and during the staging process. This will give us the opportunity to measure for shipping container space and how we can utilize extra space we can use or space that must be reconfigured to fit. This shipment only took a week to pack, crate, stage, and load into a container. During this time we must keep all of the paperwork in order to ensure we know what is on each pallet and the quantity of each item. This will be an important thing for customs that may hold any shipment at the boarder, thus holding up an expected shipping date. Six months later we can tell you what went to where and how much was on any particular pallet. Not only is this important for our records but it is also an important tool for our customer that may have questions after they receive the shipment. If you feel you may have a shipment we can help you with please call the number at the top of the page

    Machine Shipping / Container Logistics

I do apologize to all of my followers for the gaps in the shipments. This shipment is going out almost one week after the last one and has required that all employees participate in the packing and palletizing of the shipment. The usual pictures for our records were taken but during the packing process we were unable to take all of you through because of the urgency of this shipment, not to mention afew technical problems, not being able to download pictures from the memory card. Keep checking in and I will walk you through future shipments. Thank you so much for your time and intrest in this business.

    Heavy Machine Container Load

Well, Here we are after about two weeks from our receiving the items they are ready to be loaded into the shipping container that will take this shipment to it's final destination. This is how the container was loaded and everything must be laid out prior to the truck arriving. When you are building pallets and skids for each item you must know how the items will fit into the container, The measurements of the truck are the foundation of your staging lay-out. By staying inside the dimensions you can literally build pieces to the container puzzle as you go along.

    Granite Precision Slab

This had to be the most challenging piece of the whole lot. A 6,000 pound granite slab for precision measurement calibration in a machine shop. In our first picture you see the stand used to hold the slab while it is being used on a daily basis, although for shipping we cannot use the stand to support the piece during the shipping. We must remove the slab and put it on a heavy duty skid and band it to the skid with blocks to prevent it from moving around on the skid. After placing it on the skid we must clean the surface a apply the plastic sheathing which will be not only a moisture barrier but a dust shield, against stray dust which may affect the measuring surface of the granite slab. Once the protective sheathing and cardboard is in place we will begin blocking and banding. At the top you will see the soft crate finished. The sides are exposed but with the blocks extending the sides by an extra inch and a half that will give us the confidence we need to know that the sides will not be affected by anything shipping next to it.
